Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to some common questions that customers have.
I'm putting in a concrete pad for a shed. What is the recommended stone that I need for drainage under the concrete and what depth in inches do I need? Thanks,Doug
It can be a little tricky. A standard 6x8 or 8x8 shed on a concrete pad...Depending on the type of soil, ie. how wet is it. you should use 3/4" Clear stone for a bare minimum of 3 inches and a recommended depth of 6 inches. Note that the topsoil should be removed first and that the area is graded such that the pad is above grade to avoid water drainage.
What is the difference between Pine mulch and playground mulch? Can you walk barefoot in either one? How thick should a bed of mulch be?What is your delivery time to Mactier Ontario?
Although playground mulch has been certified for uses as a playground material, No mulch should be considered as safe for barefoot use. The mulching process can shred and produce splinters. There is no sterolyzation process and mulch is a natural material. A mulch bed should be a minimum of 3 inches for good coverage.
The delivery time is a function of where the mulch is coming from and where it is going. We use Google to determin approximate driving times, but our shipping rates are based on load sizes ie which truck to use. Other factors are involved, but with shipping locations all around the province, we do try to provide the best price.
This easily obtained by using your address for delivery, then selecting Screened Topsoil as the Product. Just key in 10 yards and the online calculator shows the prices for the Topsoil and the shipping to your address.
Most of our products come from a variety of locations. This allows us to service most of Ontario. Because of this, none of our locations carry all products. Some products are better suited for the local region. With this mind and if it is an emergency, call us. If a truck is available for your area and the shipping location has stock, we may be able to schedule for a faster delivery. Otherwise, our standard is 2 days.
We can deliver as much topsoil as you need. It may require multiple shipments. The maximum we can carry for a single shipment is 20-23 yards, depending on delivery address.
The best material is screened sand or screened topsoil. A lot depends on how permanent the above ground pool will be. At least with topsoil, you can lay sod after the pool is removed.
All of our products are delivered by our trucks. Most of our yards so not carry all products, so we pick up from the yard that has your product(s). The yards are not open to the public. Sorry.
Favourites are products that you either order often or are interested in for the future. To mark a product as a favourite, there is a heart shape in the upper left of the picture. If you can't see it because of the colours in the picture, you should be able move your mouse over the area and a favourite tag will appear. The next time you want to see your favourites, select them from the very top menu.
What is a unit of Sod? I am trying to price out sod for my yard but most companies list it per Sq ft.
Our sod is sold by the roll, where each roll has 9 square feet.
It depends on what you are ordering. Bulk materials like topsoil and gravel require separate shipments. Our trucks do not have dividers. That said, if the products are available on skids, then it can be done.
What is the maximum amount of screened dirt (in cubic yards) that I can get delivered in one truckload? Thanks
The maximum amount of screened topsoil able to be delivered in one load varies by location. Generally it is 20 - 23 yards. Feel free to contact us for more info.
