Here are answers to some common questions that customers have.
This is a question we get asked quite often. There are many factors to consider. It can be a little tricky. A standard 6x8 or 8x8 shed on a concrete pad...Depending on the type of soil, ie. how wet is it. you should use 3/4" Clear stone for a bare minimum of 3 inches and a recommended depth of 6 inches. Note that the topsoil should be removed first and that the area is graded such that the pad is above grade to avoid water drainage.
Although playground mulch has been certified for uses as a playground material, No mulch should be considered as safe for barefoot use. The mulching process can shred and produce splinters. There is no sterolyzation process and mulch is a natural material. A mulch bed should be a minimum of 3 inches for good coverage.
The delivery time is a function of where the mulch is coming from and where it is going. We use Google to determin approximate driving times, but our shipping rates are based on load sizes ie which truck to use. Other factors are involved, but with shipping locations all around the province, we do try to provide the best price.
This easily obtained by using your address for delivery, then selecting Screened Topsoil as the Product. Just key in 10 yards and the online calculator shows the prices for the Topsoil and the shipping to your address.
Most of our products come from a variety of locations. This allows us to service most of Ontario. Because of this, none of our locations carry all products. Some products are better suited for the local region. With this mind and if it is an emergency, call us. If a truck is available for your area and the shipping location has stock, we may be able to schedule for a faster delivery. Otherwise, our standard is 2 days.
We can deliver as much topsoil as you need. It may require multiple shipments. The maximum we can carry for a single shipment is 20-23 yards, depending on delivery address.
The best material is screened sand or screened topsoil. A lot depends on how permanent the above ground pool will be. At least with topsoil, you can lay sod after the pool is removed.
All of our products are delivered by our trucks. Most of our yards so not carry all products, so we pick up from the yard that has your product(s). The yards are not open to the public. Sorry.
Favourites are products that you either order often or are interested in for the future. To mark a product as a favourite, there is a heart shape in the upper left of the picture. If you can't see it because of the colours in the picture, you should be able move your mouse over the area and a favourite tag will appear. The next time you want to see your favourites, select them from the very top menu.
Our sod is sold by the roll, where each roll has 9 square feet.
It depends on what you are ordering. Bulk materials like topsoil and gravel require separate shipments. Our trucks do not have dividers. That said, if the products are available on skids, then it can be done.
The maximum amount of screened topsoil able to be delivered in one load varies by location. Generally it is 20 - 23 yards. Feel free to contact us for more info.
Guniting is the most effective process of repairing concrete work which has been damaged due to inferior work or other reasons. It is also used for providing an impervious layer. The gunite is a mixture of cement and sand, the usual proportion being 1:3
A type of granite or limestone crushed or shaped to work well in wall construction. The different sizes provide a special "look" when placed in cages or baskets as part of the wall structure.
A common technique is to use the same size of stone in a cage. Arranging these cages in rows or sections of the wall can be quite effective.
Crusher Run or Crush 'n' run is a mix of crushed gravel and fine sand. Due the shapes involved, it is used for compaction, not drainage.
HL or Hot Load type stones have been sized for use in asphalt products. The higher the number, the larger the aggregate to add to asphalt to provide a road surface. HL8 is often used for high traffic areas that support heavy trucks. The aggregate is often up to 1" size. An HL3 size is often used to provide a much smoother surface. Sizes can be mixed in layers.
Concrete Gravel - A mixture of washed concrete sand and 1/4"-3/4" crushed stone (HL8).
Granular A - A mixture of sand and crushed stone. Particle sizes no larger than 1 inch.
Granular B (1" Minus) - A mixture of sand and round stone. Particle sizes are up to 1 inch.
Granular B (2" Minus) - A mixture of sand and round stone. Stone sizes are up to 2 inches.
Granular B (2" Crushed) - A mixture of sand and crushed stone. Stone sizes are up to 2 inches.
3/4" Clear (Crushed)
3/4" Clear (Rounds) - Used for drainage.
HL Stones - Crushed stone sized for asphalt production.
They will come as separate deliveries to avoid mixing in the truck and allow for individual placement.
As long as you have provided detailed instructions for the placement of the materials you do not need to be there. However you may be contacted if there are any questions at the time of delivery.
This is a question we get asked all the time. The products on the website are ones we stock and handle all of the time. We do have access to a wide variety of other products. Please contact us, we would be pleased to look into it.
The delivery pricing may be different for some products because not all of the product come from the same location.
We are sorry that product availability is sometimes limited because the source of the material is not present locally.
A yard is a cubic yard, as in 1 yard long, 1 yard wide and 1 yard deep. When talking topsoil you measure the area you want to cover and then estimate how thick you want to spread the soil. you can measure area in whatever unit is more comfortable as in metres or yards. The depth can be inches or centimetres. Our calculator will handle converting the number of yards you need.
Fines is a term referring to the fine powder found in materials such as limestone after being crushed.
