Which soil is best for a lawn?

The most commonly used soil for use under sod or to plant grass seed is screened topsoil.  It is topsoil that has been processed by a screening plant to remove the rocks and roots.  There are times where the use of a more nutrient rich soil is needed.  This is usually because the existing soil is of such poor quality that a soil that incorporates compost or manure and peat like triple mix is used.  If you are not sure about the soil you need please browse our Soils and Soil Mixtures.
